EQ Clinic - Communication training platform

The Faculty of Medicine at the University of New South Wales is the first to use our system. Through a research collaboration we are evaluating how it helps medical students improve their communication skills. These videos provide an example of its multiple uses.

1. Program overview

Thank you so much for registering for the OSPIA program. When you registered, you were asked to provide some specific information about yourself.

2. How to use the scenario

We have created a scenario which provides you with all the information you need to share with the student - and some fun “acting” ideas, if you feel like being more adventurous.

3. Booking appointments

Each appointment is assumed to be a 30 minute session. Within this, a 15 minute formal “appointment” where the student will take a history from you based on the scenario you have learnt and at the end of the appointment

4. The Interview

To prepare for the interview, make sure you have read and are comfortable with the scenario. Feel free to have the scenario with you, and any notes that you have created.

5. Assessing the Student

The value of assessing the student is twofold - to allow the faculty to keep track of how the student is doing, and to provide feedback to the student to improve their skills and focus their learning.
